SmartFob, VPN, and HaaS: Agile Fleet’s New Gear in Client Support

Agile Fleet is taking key control and client support to the next level with a series of technology advancements designed to simplify operations, strengthen reliability, and reduce IT burden for fleets of every size. From the new SmartFob Key Box to KioWare Server visibility and an upcoming Hardware-as-a-Service program, these updates mark a significant evolution in how FleetCommander supports mission-critical fleets.
Smarter, Simpler Key Control
The SmartFob Key Box is Agile Fleet’s latest innovation in access management, built around simplicity and resilience. Designed with a universal fob that fits any position, the new system eliminates the need to turn a key or manage custom replacements. It’s a faster, smoother experience for drivers and administrators alike.
According to Phelps Rogovoy, VP of Client Support Services, “We wanted to remove every unnecessary step in the key retrieval process. No special fobs, no friction, no guesswork — just secure access that works every time.”
SmartFob’s field testing with two major public-sector fleets led to overwhelmingly positive feedback. Drivers praised the intuitive design, while administrators noted easier maintenance and faster troubleshooting. Since those initial pilots, Agile Fleet has successfully installed numerous SmartFob panels and introduced new options for mail-slot configurations, flexible key rings, and daisy-chained capacity for growing fleets.
Comprehensive installation instructions—available as both video and PDF—help customers perform panel swaps quickly, ensuring minimal downtime when upgrading existing key control systems.
Real-Time Visibility with KioWare Server
Agile Fleet’s support capabilities have expanded with the deployment of KioWare Server, a tool that enables real-time monitoring and remote management of kiosks across client fleets. Through a centralized dashboard, Agile Fleet can now push configuration updates, monitor connectivity, capture error screens, and even perform Windows updates—all without the need for on-site visits.
“Think of it as a command center for your kiosks,” Rogovoy said. “If something isn’t working as expected, we can see it, act on it, and get you back online faster than ever before.”
More than 150 kiosks have already been connected to the KioWare Server environment, giving both Agile Fleet and its customers unprecedented visibility into system health and uptime.
Simplified Networking Through VPN
Another major enhancement comes from the new Key Control VPN Service—a secure, cloud-based connection model that replaces complex networking requirements with a single, encrypted channel. Fleets no longer need to dedicate IP addresses, manage custom firewall rules, or rely on cellular Cradlepoint hardware.
With just one network drop and standard internet access, kiosks can securely communicate with FleetCommander, reducing IT overhead and deployment time. Early adopters have already reported improved reliability and smoother coordination with internal IT departments.
As Rogovoy said, “Fleet teams and IT teams share the same goal: keep operations running with as little complexity as possible. The VPN service makes that partnership easier on both sides.”
Hardware-as-a-Service: Coming in 2026
Launching in early 2026, Agile Fleet’s new Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) program will transform how clients manage their key control and kiosk hardware. Instead of purchasing and depreciating hardware assets, fleets will move to a predictable, all-inclusive subscription that covers equipment, upgrades, replacements, and support.
The benefits extend beyond financial convenience. HaaS ensures that customers always operate on modern, compliant hardware—without worrying about refresh cycles or surprise failures. Proactive monitoring tools like KioWare, Quick Assist, and Watchdog keep systems running smoothly, while Agile Fleet handles logistics, replacements, and lifecycle management.
“Our clients don’t need to be hardware experts,” said Rogovoy. “They need systems that just work. HaaS gives them that confidence—no approvals, no depreciation, no downtime.”
Designed for Confidence, Built for Partnership
Every innovation Agile Fleet delivers—SmartFob, VPN, KioWare, and soon HaaS—reflects a single guiding principle: reliability through simplicity. By removing complexity from key control and support operations, Agile Fleet enables public-sector and higher education fleets to focus on their mission, not their systems.
As Rogovoy summed it up, “Our technology should fade into the background. When it’s doing its job right, you barely have to think about it.”
