Agile Fleet Launches FleetCommander GO, Expanding Automated Vehicle Access for Departments and Smaller Fleets
Chantilly, Virginia — Agile Fleet, a leading provider of fleet management and vehicle-sharing solutions, has announced the availability of FleetCommander GO, a streamlined solution designed to make automated vehicle reservations and secure key access more attainable for departments, smaller organizations, and distributed fleets.
FleetCommander GO combines FleetCommander’s vehicle reservation capabilities with lower-cost key dispatch hardware from Keycafe. By greatly reducing the hardware investment required at each location, the solution allows organizations to establish more key dispatch points and place secure, self-service vehicle access closer to the employees and departments that need it.
The flexible approach is ideal for organizations starting a shared vehicle program, individual departments managing their own vehicle pools, and larger organizations that want to extend vehicle access across multiple buildings, campuses, offices, or service areas.
“Organizations should not need a large, centralized motor pool to benefit from automated reservations and secure key access,” said Don Dymont, CEO of Agile Fleet. “FleetCommander GO lowers the hardware barrier and makes it practical to bring vehicle sharing closer to the people who use those vehicles. Departments and smaller organizations can begin with the capacity they need, while larger fleets can create more convenient access points across their operations.”
Drivers can request a vehicle through FleetCommander, receive their assignment and pickup information, and securely retrieve the correct key from a Keycafe SmartBox using an app, access card, or PIN. When the key is returned, the activity is recorded and the vehicle can be made available for its next reservation.
By automating the process from reservation through key return, FleetCommander GO reduces the administrative work associated with managing shared vehicles while improving convenience for drivers. It also enables organizations to provide secure vehicle access beyond normal business hours without leaving keys unsecured or requiring staff to oversee every handoff.
FleetCommander GO supports the complete vehicle-sharing workflow:
- Drivers reserve vehicles for a specific date and time through FleetCommander.
- Approval requests are routed automatically when required.
- Drivers receive their vehicle assignment, SmartBox location, and pickup details.
- At pickup, the driver authenticates at the SmartBox and only the assigned key is released.
- Key pickups and returns are recorded, strengthening accountability and fleet visibility.
Every reservation and key exchange creates a time-stamped record associated with a specific driver and vehicle. This provides fleet teams with greater visibility into who used each vehicle and when, while establishing a reliable audit trail. Reservation and utilization data can also help organizations evaluate demand, identify underused vehicles, support right-sizing decisions, and make more informed fleet investments.
The solution is designed to start small and expand as needs change. Each deployment begins with a nine-key SmartBox base station and can be expanded using 18- or 42-key units. Organizations can add capacity at an existing location or establish additional key dispatch points throughout their operations. Optional freestanding installations and weather-resistant outdoor enclosures provide further flexibility for locations without suitable indoor wall space.
FleetCommander GO is available now for government agencies, colleges and universities, utilities, businesses, individual departments, and smaller organizations looking for a more accessible way to establish or expand a shared vehicle program.
